Ancient Un-belonging

Identity, belonging, and the presence of our ancestors.

Ancient Un-belonging

I tried to be other people, each new identity some hollow shell masquerading as a complete person.

The true me detached, neglected, forgotten.

I sheared away, turned towards danger in dark avenues.

I escaped into un-belonging among other broken souls.

Maybe if I run all the past myself I can leave all that was behind. Emerge the real me, renewed, accepted, and whole.

From the deafening loneliness three giant ancestral beings rose.

I was aware of them and they of me.

Speaking without words they warned that this is not where I belong.

Truth - penetrating. The timeless imprinting of our souls.

- James Essex
